Running DJ sets through a bass combo amp - Bad idea?
Main Post:
Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well!
I'm planning an outdoor backyard rave over the course of the summer, and most of my setup is working out so far, but I wanted to ask a question here to see if anyone's attempted it or just generally knows more about the risks at hand:
I have two speakers I can choose from: I have a bare-basic pair of BOSS monitors that I used for the last event to a pretty resounding success, but each monitor requires it's own separate power cable, which leaves me running pretty low on available outdoor outlets to add other devices. This year I'm planning to add a projector for visuals, so I'm down a power outlet and was wondering if the average bass combo amp (specifically a Traynor Small Block SB115 with aux-in) would be able to handle different types of electronic music pumping through them for 6-ish hours, since I'd then be able to switch my monitors out for my bass combo to just use the one cable.
Renting some battery-powered speakers or something is also an option, but the purpose of these events is to be as low-cost as possible, using hardware lent by people in the community, so the less expenses incurred the better.
Thanks in advance! Take care, stay safe. <3
Top Comment: In my head that's just a bad idea just because the sound quality will be very bad. Bass amps aren't designed to play back music accurately. Just get a bigger power strip and take care you don't use more power than a socket can handle in your country and you will be just fine.

Can I run Ableton and Serato DJ simultaneously?
Main Post:
With Serato DJ now supporting Ableton Link, I thought I might try to incorporate some sequencing and looping into my DJ sets using Ableton. However, it seems that the soundcard in my controller (Pioneer DDJ SR) is only able to recognize one of the programs at once. So, I have Serato up and running, but then when I open Ableton, it says "failed to open ASIO Pioneer DDJ SR driver" (or something like that). Likewise, if I open Ableton first, it can run the driver properly, but then Serato never recognizes the controller after its opened. I feel like there's a driver of some sort that I'm missing, but I don't know if I'd find it from Ableton, Pioneer, Serato, ASIO, or whoever. Or, if that's not an option, do you guys think that downloading ASIO4ALL for Ableton and routing the headphone jack of my laptop into the AUX input of the controller would work?
Thanks!
Top Comment:
Probably better going the AUX input route, I ran similar setups to yours with traktor and ableton on one soundcard which works, but there is something with serato and the audio interfaces it uses.
You don't even have to install ASIO4ALL, just go into the ableton settings, select MME/DirectX as the driver type and choose your laptop's built in output for the output device.

These Live DJ rides are goofy as hell…
Main Post:
but I’m here for it! 😂 You got Cody doing his usually silly commentary and John Michael in the background dancing and lip synching like he’s in the club. I wonder if these were less silly when there were other riders in the studio? It was so ridiculous but it made my workout fly by. It’s nice to laugh and sweat at the same time!

I also love the Live DJ rides for the silliness and banter. The Live DJ runs with Adrian, aka Peloton After Dark, are hilarious as well and make the time fly by when I’m in the mood for a fun, not so serious ride or run.
